Solidarité Fredericton has released a report card on where candidates in Fredericton’s 2021 municipal election stand on issues of concern to them, including housing, transportation, the police and wetlands protection.
Committed to “a new normal” post-pandemic, our organization is committed to organizing against capitalism, colonialism, and all forms of discrimination and oppression. We want a new kind of economy that is free of the profit motive, meets the needs of every human being, and respects the common good and ecological limits.
We sent seven questions to all candidates running in Fredericton’s municipal election. Half of the candidates responded. We developed a scoring system that graded the candidates out of 10 on each of the following four criteria: understanding of the problem, understanding of the capacity of the city, doable solution and an effective solution. The candidates were then assigned a letter grade based on their overall score.
