The stereotype of the homeless lacking ambition has been examined and found to be lacking, the National Alliance to End Homelessness found that the homeless want to work. Employers are often mistrustful of the motives, ability, or desire of the homeless to achieve employment. Other issues the homeless face are employers that fear reliability and integration of the homeless into their workplace. To these challenges, add those held in common with the housed population of lack of experience, physical health, or mental health barriers. In response, homeless people utilize a number of survival skills becoming ‘self-employed entrepreneurs.’
