On October 21st, Fredericton will host an International Women Arts Exhibition, in conjunction with the annual World Women March 2000 – 2010 Conference, to be held at the Delta Hotel on October 22nd.
101 small unframed artworks will be exhibited by 21 women artists from 9 countries including: India, Spain, Canada, Iran, England, Turkey, USA, Germany and the Netherlands. This International Women Arts Exhibition offers a unique voice, insight into artists around the world, as a means to unite the world in solidarity, one artist at a time.
The independent curator, artist, teacher and advocate Cavelle Macdonell left her home in Gander in the late 60s. She earned a Fine Arts degree at Mount Allison University, Film Studies and Education degree from Queen’s University. Since then she has traveled and lived in many countries and recently taught in the Caribbean. Cavelle’s artworks have received international recognition. Before moving to Fredericton this summer, she lived for a year along the Costa del Sol, Malaga, Spain where she worked as a photographer and teaching private tuition. Cavelle is now settling back home in the Maritimes and looks forward to exploring her next body of artworks and teaching Fine Arts and Design and Literature.

WORLD MARCH OF WOMEN 2010
On Friday October 22, all are invited to the NB World March of Women reunion in Fredericton, from 11am to 4:30pm. The 2010 slogan: “Women On The March Until We Are All Free!” Join a discussion on women’s economic autonomy, their access to resources, and to eliminate violence against women. Meet outside the NB Legislature for a short celebration followed by a march to the Delta for lunch and guided discussion on a working document on women’s issues during the past 10 years.
Organizers are expecting 300 – 500 women and men from across the province. March participants will be wearing purple scarves made by women in Guatemala (available for $10). Registration is $35.
